Zachary Abston was raised in the Gulf Coast region where he received his massage therapy training in 2006 from the Pensacola School of Massage Therapy and Health Careers. He passed the National Certification Examination for Therapeutic Massage and Bodywork (NCETMB) in 2007 with High marks in all content areas. The day after passing his national exam, Zac was involved in a motor vehicle accident that left him unable to walk unassisted and began receiving intensive deep tissue massage therapy by the instructor who trained him in that modality. It was through this experience that he gained a unique first- hand understanding of the healing process.
After a total recovery, Zachary was hired as a full- time massage therapist at a chiropractic office and would go on to develop an intimate understanding of the deep tissue techniques that became the bedrock of his career.
In 2008, Zac moved to Gatlinburg and began exploring an environment he had not yet been introduced to; the spa. It was in the spa atmosphere that he developed an appreciation for the profoundly deep benefits of Swedish Massage. He also discovered his love for complimentary services such as body wrap treatments, salt scrubs, and hot stone massage.
After several years of developing his Swedish Massage skills, Zac began to integrate this modality into the Deep Tissue skills he had previously honed. His appreciation for all bodywork therapies evolved into a desire to test his own merit and in 2014, Zachary became an instructor of massage therapy at the Appalachian Training Center for Healing Arts in Dandridge, Tn. ATCHA provided him with an opportunity to study at length and teach the foundations of professional massage to students and also to work with established, licensed massage therapists through teaching their continuing education program.
